Taking a break from the Pattern journal. I'm not sure if I will go back to finish it or not.

Step By Step - Feeling Grey
I was 14 when I started describing my mood as "grey". It was very flat and boring, feeling tired and disinterested in everything. It was a bit like floating through a virtual plane. To be honest, I never really grew out of it.

Starting with a quick pencil sketch...

Filled it in with a charcoal pencil and sprayed the whole thing with lots and lots of water (and a bit of watercolour) to see if it would drip! It did a little bit. Even better, I think it may have sealed the loose charcoal into the paper because it wasn't rubbing off onto my fingers anymore.

Here's the finished step, after adding a bit of collage and hand stitching! This small painting will be in the shop later... in the meantime I've got tiramisu to assemble :3

Another WIP

I'm playing with a little charcoal on watercolour paper and keep forgetting that the texture of the paper is a bit of a drag. I know that textured paper is the way to go for dusty mediums but I feel like I have less control somehow.

Suddenly, Craft Fair

I am so super exhausted! I was invited to sit in a tiny craft fair in front of the Good Day Sunshine Cafe and it was such a lovely day for it! It was just the four of us: Violette Clark, Gail Siler, Val, and me!

It was perfect cloudy weather so it was wonderful to be outside and listen to live music. All of Oils was handing out these amazing samples of ice cream drizzled with butter-flavoured olive oil which sounds really gross but was so crazy delicious. It was a pretty good day, and today will be spent watching movies, that's for sure.

Handmade Sketchbook - Tall Tales

You know, I used to think 4 leaf clovers were amazing. One time I found a patch of them and some of the clovers had all the way up to 9 leaves on them. It never really occurred to me that these were actually perfectly common things. I'd never seen a shamrock before.
And even full grown adults accused me of fibbing when I presented them with pressed "lucky" clovers. I was not alone in my opinion that they were magic.

So when I saw a little black clover plant at the store I grabbed it. I was so mean to my plants last year that I thought it dried up and died, but it came back with such happy fury this year that I now have two containers full of them. Why? Because they are an aggressive weed! My favourite kind of plant :P But it means I have two containers of four-leaf clovers.
This journal has a small bundle of them embedded right into the cover, you know, in case you need a little luck during your artistic journey!

At the last minute, I have been summoned to join Violette Clark in the festivities at the High Street Summer Block Party in South Surrey this weekend! If all goes well, we will be kicking around with our lovely items on display so if you are in the area, come check it out!

Handmade Art Journal - Inspiration

Here is the first of two new journals going into the shop this week! This one is filled with good old Stonehenge in "natural" colour. Among the full sized pages is a variety of different "flaps" to add visual interest.
Just like pretty much every time I try out a different kind of journal, I always miss these ones! I miss my spray inks and watercolours! I can't wait to go back to them.

Unfortunately, the price of Stonehenge is rising so I will have to make some kind of change. New paper? Raise prices? Smaller journals?
